Through the A\N Residency Program, MARRA\NOSCO aims to support, promote and stimulate artistic creation, fostering a permanent dialogue that connects artists with the local and international scene.
MARRA\NOSCO invites artists to spend a period of time for reflection and creation that will culminate in an exhibition at the gallery. The residency offers an environment for artists to develop and promote their practice, while forging new relationships and creating collaborations. Located in the central district of Sainte-Catherine, on the first floor of a charming neoclassical historic building built around the 1860s, a characteristic example of the city’s industry. The main exhibit room of the gallery, once served as a showroom for the old factory of shirts, collars and ties from Cleuren & Cie, will be the space adapted as a workshop. The artists will be also supplied with a room, a kitchen/office space and primary production costs.
This season, MARRA\NOSCO welcomes the Argentinian artist Martina Quesada (b. 1987). Quesada considers her work as a research process to address different questions related to the construction of meaning within a society. Through her work, the artist is delving into historical perspectives as a means of introducing different points of view on how we relate to the ecological crisis today. Quesada usually works with a small selection of materials, although she doesn’t necessarily have an exclusive medium. She is interested in working with ideas and then finding the material or the form that it summons.
Residencies are by invitation only.
